• Residential parking permits are issued only to persons who live in residential premises within the City of Hamilton (i.e. owner/occupiers and tenants). Permits are not issued to persons who visit City
residents, or to non-resident owners of buildings, or to anyone other than residents. Only bona fide residents with residential parking permits may park in residential parking bays.
• Residential parking permits are NOT transferrable
• Residential parking permits are issued only for private cars. Permits are not issued for cycles, or for commercial vehicles, including taxis.
• All residential parking permits expire with effect from 31st December and must be renewed each year at City Hall. Failure to display a valid, current permit may result in a parking ticket being issued.
• THERE IS A $25.00 CHARGE FOR RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS.
• Applicants must bring in their up-to-date car registration and their City Tax assessment number.
Permits will not be issued to persons whose taxes are in arrears.
• Permit holders may park in any designated residential parking bay in the City. As a matter of courtesy, permit holders should try to park in one of the bays closest to their residence. (The zones are clearly signed as “Residential Parking” zones with directional arrows indicating the area designated for this purpose.)
• THE PERMIT DOES NOT ENTITLE THE HOLDER TO AN EXCLUSIVE PARKING BAY.
• The Permit holder is obligated to notify the Corporation of Hamilton immediately regarding changes in address or ownership of the listed vehicle.
• Failure to abide by the aforementioned regulations or providing false information regarding residence in the City, including assessment numbers or ownership of the vehicle listed in the application, will result in immediate termination of permit privileges and could result in Police prosecution.
